Title: Commonwealth Youth Forum
Location: Caribbean Princess Cruise Ship, Port of Spain
Date: 2009-11-26

On Thursday 26th November, the day that the emerging findings of the Commonwealth Conversation, Common What?, were published, representatives from the RCS presented the report to delegates at the Commonwealth Youth Forum.

Over 500 young delegates (2 from each Commonwealth country and a number of local Trinbagonians) took part in the Youth Forum, which was held on a cruise ship in Port of Spain harbour in the week prior to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting. T

he feedback received from delegates about the report was overwhelmingly positive, and young representatives were particularly enthusiastic about the ongoing opportunity the Conversation provides to put across their thoughts on the future of the Commonwealth.

The Commonwealth Youth Forum takes place every year before the CHOGM, and provides a platform for young people from across the Commonwealth to identify, prioritise and discuss openly issues that are of international importance.

The theme in 2009 was ‘Invest in Youth, Sustain the World’. The Port of Spain Youth Communiqué, which was drafted by delegates and presented to Commonwealth leaders on Saturday 28th November, can be downloaded here:

More information about the Youth Forum, which is organised by the host CHOGM government in partnership with the Commonwealth Youth Programme and the Commonwealth Youth Exchange Council, can be found here:

‘Invest in Youth, Sustain the World’ cannot penetrate the obsolete but obdurate ”sovereignty” to reach those oppressed by internal colonialism. Children have been starving in detention camps and youth have been abducted from those camps. Camps have been inaccessible to ICRC and journalists.

Commonwealth youth should study the following carefully and should strive to transform the Commonwealth:
