Who will my views influence and how?
The final report of the Commonwealth Conversation – ‘An Uncommon Association, A Wealth of Potential’ – was published on Monday 8 March. In writing this report, every contribution to the Conversation was reviewed and analysed. Your comments influenced the focus of our message and the substance of our recommendations. Without you, the Conversation would have amounted to nothing!
A report of the emerging findings of the Conversation, ‘Common What?’, was presented to Commonwealth leaders gathered for the Trinidad & Tobago Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in November 2009. These findings were discussed at the highest level and the results of what we heard at CHOGM and afterwards fed into the drafting of the final report.
In February 2010 we put the 10 draft recommendations of the Conversation online for discussion. The comments that we received from so many people were tremendously useful as we drafted the final report.
We truly believe that the results of the Commonwealth Conversation are going to have a big impact. And our ultimate aim is to see them cause fundamental, long-lasting change. Your views will not only influence Heads of Commonwealth governments and their officials, but the Commonwealth Secretariat, Commonwealth civil society organisations, MPs, the media, business leaders and international commentators.
When several thousand people speak, they cannot be ignored. The Conversation is your chance to make sure your voice is heard.
