Privacy Policy
1. Data Protection
The Royal Commonwealth Society (RCS) has a RCS Data Protection Statement which this website adheres to.
2. Registration information
The Commonwealth Conversation site does not capture or store personal information from site visitors, other than to log the user’s IP address and session information such as the duration of the visit to the site and the type of web browser used. Cookies are only used on the website if you choose to have your details remembered when posting a comment.
When submitting a comment to the website you will be required to provide a username and an email address, and to answer a random question to prevent spam. Your email address will be stored, but never published online. This data will be stored by WordPress for as long as you remain registered and the website is active.
We will only contact you in direct relation to the comment you submitted or to request feedback on this site. We may also send an email round to all users to update you on the Commonwealth Conversation, and you can unsubscribe from this email list at any time by clicking the unsubscribe button at the bottom of the email.
2. Site usage information
Session cookies
Cookies are pieces of data created when you visit a website. The cookies our site uses are ‘session cookies’, which store your ‘preferences’ while you move around the site. You can set your computer not to accept cookies if you so wish. This will not in any way affect your ability to access the information on the site, but will prevent you logging into any of the personalised facilities and using the added functionality that the site offers.
This website uses session cookies and log files to facilitate the smooth running of the site. It does not use cookies to collect any personal information about you except that required for system administration by WordPress. Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser.
Log files
Log files allow us to record visitors’ use of the site. The system puts together log file information from all our visitors, which we use to make changes to the layout of the site and to the information in it, based on the way that visitors move around it. Log files do not contain any personal information.
3. Feedback
If this privacy policy changes in any way, we will place an updated version on this page. Regularly reviewing this page ensures you are always aware of what information we collect, and how we use it.
